#DonateForLove at WheelHouse SF

February, 2014

I created this flyer for my friends at WheelHouse a few weeks ago. On Valentine’s Day, all yoga and cycling classes were be held by donation and all of the proceeds went to benefit the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. My friend Eric is training for the AIDS Lifecycle Ridein June where he’ll be riding from SF to LA (535 miles in 7 days!) so it was fun to work on a freelance project for such a great cause.

Getting My Spin On At the Wheel House

I’ve told you guys before about how I’m not really that into yoga. However, the times I’ve enjoyed my sun salutations and down dogs the most are when I’ve actually taken a class at a yoga studio. It’s a totally different experience than taking a class at a gym or doing a yoga DVD at home. Yoga studios have a calming and serene ambiance that puts you in a relaxed and meditative mood.

Spin instructor Carl Morley left rat race to open gym

Carl Morley, a product strategy manager at Oracle, had an "out-of-control" habit. He couldn't stop teaching spin classes. When not developing software, he was at Equinox and Crunch teaching 21 sessions a week and leading his 13 personal training clients. "It was getting crazy. The engineers at work, who really did fit that 'engineer' stereotype, didn't know what to say - they would comment on my arms. I was getting to work at 5 a.m. so I could get back in time to teach."

Today, two years after quitting Oracle, Morley has opened his own gym - and he's bringing tech with him.
